AL-20, fanuc OT, turret won't home, still

turret spins indefinitely. Replaced 2 bad prox switches. #1 index & turret clamp. From tool #1 home position, with home light on, switch set to #2 thru #8, turret will index to just before #3 position, hesitates, then rotates slightly, then seats... Will not index after (error). Will not home after reset. Book suggests gain adjustment.

Home, turret clamp & count signals good at Control DGN's. Any/all ideas considered. Mori tech suggested that the turret contactor goes bad on this machine. Causing the turret deccel signal to fail. Which is the turret contactor?

Does the turret clamp prox. switch have any effect on the indexing, or just clamp/unclamp?

Please check the encoder of the turret motor, it appears to be malfunctioning.
