I have an sl-250 lathe with a fanuc 16t control

when getting this alarm, my servo amplifier kicks off a 6 alarm or a 9 alarm

I checked diag parameters 200-204 and prms 200 bit hca is marked 1 as well as 201 ald bit is marked 1.

First thing to check is the gear set on the turret index. EARLY SLXXX had a problem in that area. They used 2 4mm bolts to hold a plate on that held the turret gear on to the index shaft. In some cases they broke and would let the gear float and bind up, or in one case the bolt got caught between the gears, bending the servo motor shaft. There was a repair for it that had a new shaft with a KMT spanner nut. The diagnostic page should show if it's an X axis or the T axis thats overloading. Does the alarm come on at power up, or when you try to move an axis ? If it's the X, check the X axis brake first. Was/is there any noise in any of the axis during rapid ? Was the machine crashed?

no noises anf the 2 alarms are sporatic. it only comes on in the morning after its been sitting and goes away after a few restarts.

no alarms when moving and its been like this for months now. has not caused any shutdown or downtime. just a pain to have to turn the machine on and off numerous times.

    machine was not crashed.

my machine dealer has had to put in a call to fanuc and I have not heard anything yet and this alarm is very vague

Sounds to me like it's a flaky amp. A word of caution having Fanuc do the job, it will need to be zero returned after the amp is replaced. Some of the Fanuc people are not very good or even know how to do it.
