    NL 3000 Peck Drilling

We just bought a new NL 3000, and I'm a mill guy trying to convert to run this lathe. My object is pretty simple, I just want to peck drill with a full retract when it pecks. G83 with a Q and a R does it on the mill, but doesn't on the lathe. What am I missing?

    Thanks for any help!

Are you running a live tool or static if your running static in the detail page there is step amount and theres like a cut depth before retract so if your step is .500 and your peck is .050 then its going to peck to.500 i have to look at my machine tomorrow about retracting out when running live i can't remember with out looking at the detail page

No live tooling. I figured out the peck amount, I just can't figure out how to set a retract point with a canned cycle. To get by for now I just manually programmed it move by move.

    Thanks

What control? I have what you need if it is a Fanuc control, and you have Macro B.

you want to use a face groving cycle without any "X" move in it.

if you need more explanation let me know.

G74 is a drill (face groove) pecking cycle. Tool will only withdraw an amount set in a parameter. It will not fully retract as the OP wants. Lathes I am familiar with only use G83 for live tooling. There are a ton I'm not familiar with.
