Re: Mori Seiki MSC 501 Fanuc 18 iTA - Slideways oil timer
If the machine is using too much oil its not a timer issue, its a lube manifold problem. They will stick open allowing too much oil to pump through. Its also Dependant on which model machine. If its a sl600, that would be completely normal. If its a CL 150 then too much.
Re: Mori Seiki MSC 501 Fanuc 18 iTA - Slideways oil timer
if the manifold oil filters/valves stick open you would also get a lube low pressure alarm. did you see any lube alarms?
you should have a gauge on the lube pump and a button that can manually activate it. if you press the button for about 1 minute does the oil pressure go up to about 12 on the gauge?
we have a ZL35 that has been using about 2 full lube containers of oil per day for at least the last 15 years. our maintenance guy tells us oil is cheaper than pulling the whole machine apart to find the faulty manifold (there are possibly dozens of them throughout the machine).
Re: Mori Seiki MSC 501 Fanuc 18 iTA - Slideways oil timer
Not necessarily, one or two stuck pistons and they will still build enough pressure not to alarm. Seen it more times than I can count. Pretty easy to figure out how much they should use. Each plunger is marked with the CCs per cycle, multiply that by number of plungers x cycles per hour and that's what should come out. I never just change one, I do them all. Parts are cheaper than labor.
Re: Mori Seiki MSC 501 Fanuc 18 iTA - Slideways oil timer
while parts might be cheaper than labor, if you have parts then you need to use labor to fit those parts. so having parts = labor costs too ;-)
the oil level alarm is normal because your oil tank is empty. if you dont get lube PRESSURE alarm then its not that serious.
the MT250 is a pretty complex machine and there will be many of those manifolds and several hundred plungers. if you have many hours/days you could change all of them.
if you can see where the oil is flowing too much you might be lucky and be able to just service the one manifold to save time and money.
