If this is a normal incremental encoder on a DC motor, then there is no aligning usually, if the zero reference has to be in a certain position, as in tool changing etc, then it is normally done with a grid shift parameter to move zero where you want it, within one revolution of the encoder.
What control is on it? 6T?

Thanks for your response....the control is a Yasnac LX1...I wasn't sure if I had to re-align since we have several Fanucs and those you have to get into the parameters like you said

Unless you have a reason for wanting it to zero exact position as before, it should not matter, it is within 1 rev of the encoder, you may have to adjust some programs however, unless the Yasnac has grid shift the same as Fanuc.

You can get it dead center by simple parameter adjustment, All It does is give a final count on final approach after it reads the zero notch in the encoder

I would have to look up the parameter

Thanks Wayne...haven't been on in a while but The machine still of .050 and working fine but if you can find the parameter number I'd appreciate it much,

This should be the download link for the manual, it is available for free from Yaskawa Electric I looked for a few minutes, and Im relatively sure its in the 6000 area, and I dont want to appear rude, but I am not going through 100s of pages tonight. This should get you close.

Adjust prm 6304. Make sure after you change the value that you power off/on. Control reads new value on bootup
