Question Silicon Rubber compression mould advice ??

Hi Guys

Would anyone be kind enough to give some general advice on making some Rubber compression tools .

Have made a few complete Plastic Injection moulds now but have never come across these before . They seem fairly straight forward if I could find some basic info on them like shrinkage , heating , finishes, process etc

Any pointers would be a great help.

Thanks

Cheers Kev

Alumilite.com or smoothon.com has training videos and all the supplies you can think of. Awesome stuff that silicone is. Both for parts and mold making. Good luck

Hi Warren

Thanks for links , had a quick look at them and were very interesting but i need some info on more production compression orientated tooling i.e. steel moulds with pillars and bushes etc.

Thanks again

Cheers Kev

Hi Kev,

I was thinking you wanted molds made from silicon. But it seems you want to make silicon parts. I have the opposite solution. You see, I make my molds from silicon for carbon fiber and other cast material parts.

Unfortunately I have no experience making parts from silicon aside from casting two part mixtures with aluminum masters.

Good luck.

Warren
