Need to make scale tire mold for 1/6 scale car

    Hello all,
I'm needing to make a scale tire for a pickup truck my brother is building.
My first thought was to make a two part plaster mold, then join the two halves.
Fill with urethane until the mold was liberily coated. Let set and hope for the best. The tire needs to be 8.5" dia, 2.25" wide, -w- a hub of 4.5" dia.
What materials would be best to use.
Rather than carving out the treads, I was thinking we could use a bicycle tire as a tread pattern and fill with plaster to at least make the tread pattern.

    TIA
    Neil

I just saw some about that size at a small-engine shop (needed snowblower part )
They also have them that big for r/c monster trucks (google FG tires, or Jumbo Kongs)
    ...might save you some trouble.
If it ain't broke... fix it 'til it is.

I also need a guide to 1/4 scale tyre mold & materials

    Hi,

I also need a guide to building 2 x 1/4 scale tyre molds and need to know what materials to use. I plan on building several moulds, 1 pair for dirt track racing and another for 2 sets for onroad/pavement racing (slicks and treaded). Each mould set will have 1 for a front tyre and 1 for a rear tyre (larger diameter and wider).

I have a small lathe in my workshop but are unsuccessfully saving up to buy a CNC milling machine to get onto building my own design cars.

In other words --- HELP !
