Anyone else running an Arburg C4/b pneumatic plastic injection machine?
Anyone have a manual for it?

Arburg C4
I have an Arburg C4 machine, it is the standard model with a stand and a large casting to hold the injection head. Arburg does not support these machines and it is hard to get info/manuals.

I Have one too, without manuals.
But it is not so difficult.
Heat the extruder, close the mold, press the injector down.
Do you have special questions ?

Thanks for the response.
No burning questions, have 2 of them running but always looking for a little more information on them.
They run fine but can be finicky at times.
Would really like to fine tune the mechanical pellet drop to get a little better metering. Tried to hook up a small water cooling system with certain molds but it did not work well as space is very limited.

Arburg C4 Questions
Hi
A couple questions. What is the plastic bump on the U shaped plastic cover? With the clamp assy mounted vertical, what are using to close the mold. I cannot see any air cylinder?
Thanks

The bump is the handle so you can swing the cover open. If you do not have a cover the plastic drops all over the floor.
I was going to saw before Hugo posted the pics that I could see his air cylinder was there because of teh large knuckle/toggle mechanism that operates the slide for the mold was in place.
Also because of his set up to remove the plastic part Hugo is not running the machine in automatic mode with the ejection pins pushing out the parts. He is removing them by hand.
Hugo do you have all the timers and electric components cabinit on the left side of the injection machine cabinet?

I do not have the original controller more.
For the temperature I use an industrial controller.
For the timer I have a microprocessor.
I use it also in the other position, depending on the product.
Because I usually make single pieces, I take the products by hand.
Due to the modular concept you can do much experimenting with this machine.

Arburg C4
Hi
Thanks for the info. I thought the plastic bump might be an opening to manually insert plastic pellets. (I would like to be able to do that without removing the clear cover) My machine just has a "U" shaped cover. (no bump) Also after asking the question about the clamping method, I looked at the pic closer and saw the linkage to the air cylinder. I checked my files and I do have some paper copies of some of the pages of the Arburg C4S manual. This would be a pain in the neck to scan (each page individually) and I think Office Depot wants about 25 cent per page to make digital file. (PDF file) Not sure how good the scan would be since some of these pages are about 3 or 4th generation copies. The results may not be that good.

Re: Arburg C4/b pneumatic injection
I found this thread while searching for information on these machines which I inherited 2 of. I would love to have copies of any documentation you were able to locate. Happy to pay for xeroxing and postage, or labor to digitize if applicable. Please let me know if you can help! Thanks in advance.

If I remember right there are set screws to remove the whole cylinder from the machine. After removal from the machine you can loosen set screws from the top of the shield and take it off. I think the cylinder has a recessed groove in the top. The set screws hold the cylinder to the machine.

Re: Arburg C4/b pneumatic injection
This thread is pretty old. Are you Arburg guys still out there? I just bought one off Ebay and will potentially need some advice.
