What book to buy for explaining lathe operation

if you could recomeend one book, that was clear and concise and explained mini lathe terminology and operations to a total newbie, what book would that be ?

Try and get hold of a copy of How to Run a Lathe by the South Bend Lathe Works.
First printed 1907. Last edition #50 1944.
The last copy printed had a black cover.
I got a copy off ebay for around $12.00.

Even better than the SB book (which is darned good) is:

Textbook of Turning by PF Hercus. Hercus made (makes??) SB clones in Australia.

So far this and the US Navy Lathe Operations book have been the most useful to me.

There's a bunch of video's out there too. Randy Krouphout's (Spelling) are the most informative.... but he is a little slow and dry. I usually watch them at 1.6X speed.. LOL.
