Hi folks just acquired a Red Bull 7x12 and aim to fit both metal gears and a set of taper roller bearings. Has anyone any experience of the lubrication needs for both the metal gears and the taper roller bearings. Do I need to use oil seals on the spindle housed in the existing plastic bearing covers? Do I need to seal the bottom of the head stock ao that the headstock housing can be half filled with grease (lithium I presume?). The parts have been purchased as I was having problems machining rolled ball screws for a cnc conversion of a mini mill. I have now cracked the machining so the lathe mods are on hold till the mill is under cnc! Help and advice from those who have tried both the bearing change and the metal head stock drive gears please. Hope I have posed this correctly as this is my first one! |
