Can anyone recommend a cut off or parting tool, for a mini lathe equipped with an 8mm tool post. My ground down cutters are OK but only just OK! They chatter in the slot, or heat up, or they jam or on a bad day all three. Someone must make a tip holder that wil mount in my holder. I only have small tools. KT

Hey there Lance here is a Part# for a Self Grip 8mm tool holder SGFR 8B-1.2D15 SH This is an ISCAR# the SGF is the style;the R is right hand; the 8B is 8mm; The 1.2 is width of insert .047; I think D15 is the carbide grade...I use a varity of these except they are 12.7-.500 shank. They are great for grooving, parting, and profiling...Enco has them,Hope this gets you started in the rite direction :-) Bob Here is the Link you can get a general idea of the tool integrity here. http://www.iscar.com/Ecat/familyHDR....type/1/lang/EN Last edited by Journey_Man; 05-07-2009 at 10:55 AM. I suggest you contact Advanced Carbide Tooling based in Leicester, as they do some really good small tools for sliding heads, including a 8mm shank part-off system, which you can see with this link: http://www.advancedcarbidetooling.co...-and-grooving/

Thanks, I knew there must be a solution out there. The Microcut looks like a good option and almost local. Waiting for replies back now on prices, as usual solutions will have to be weighed against the cost. Oh well no pain - no gain! KT
