I'm conspiring to get the G0602 this spring.... couple questions regarding tool holders.... Does the 4-way tool post work well? It looks like a good design concept (though I'd probably want to put a foam plug over the bits that are not in use). I'm figuring that if I mount an AR, BR, E and cut off tool, it will cover 95% of what I'll ever do. Could anyone who has used this 4-way set up comment on whether or not it left them desperately wanting a QCTP? and the second part of my Q.... Does the Grizzly G5689 QCTP mount on the G0602 without any troubles? Does the height align properly with 1/2" tools when mounting the G5689 on the G0602? Grizzly has the QCTP on sale this spring..... w/ 5 tool holders for $175. Which like a pretty darn good price. But if the 4-way post works well enough... I'd rather invest the money elsewhere. |

| Matt, I ordered a G0602 back in Feb and was told it was backordered til May 25th, but then it was delivered around March 20th. go figure. You might want to order now to get on the waiting list (they don't charge your credit card til it ships). First thing I bought was a QCTP. The 4 way might be ok, but a QCTP is where it's at. You can get a Phase II set from Enco for $99 (w/ 5 holders)- http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?P...PARTPG=INLMK32 and there's probably a way you can get free shipping. I ordered a bunch of Type 1 and 2 holders from cdcotools.com for $8 (turning/facing) or $9 each (turning, facing, boring). With the Phase II set you'll need to machine the nut to fit the t-slot and do something with tool post mounting stud- the stud is too long, or the threaded portion is too short... the nut runs out of thread before it can tighten down on the tool post. I extended the thread using a lathe at work. Many different ways you can solve that problem. Now that it's done, I'm really happy I got the QCTP, it's awesome. 1/2" tools are on center with the holders set as low as they can go. Sorry I don't have any experience with the exact Grizzly parts you're asking about, but you can save $75 with the enco set and put it towards other cutting tools & holders, like the H5681 turning tool set. I bought that and have been really happy with the results so far. I have really warmed up the credit card buying stuff for the lathe though. UPS just notified me that the DRO I got on ebay is waiting for me on the front porch |

| Be aware that both the Grizz & the ENCO QCTP's mentioned above are piston-type, not wedge-type. You get what you pay for when it comes to rigidity and repeatability. ![]() This one's a wedge-type and is a decent price. http://www.littlemachineshop.com/pro...ory=-419988835 |
