    Craftsman 6" part needed

I have a craftsman model 101.21200 lathe which I have been cleaning up. The mount that holds the apron handwheel gears is broken. It was a piece of cast metal and broke in several places. I would appreciate any help in identifying the part number and a possible source. I am new to machining and don't even know how much this lathe is even worth. It is in fair shape and all of the major parts are there (I think?) . Thanks in advance for your help.

    Possible Solution

If you have all the broken parts, you might want to contact buildyouridea.com

You might want to check out the site. The guy can sand cast any part if he is willing to take on the project. There are many examples of lost foam casting, etc. on this site.

This is just one option. Thought you might want to look into it.

Are you able to show us a picture ?

Perhaps it could be machined, cast parts are not particularly strong, sometimes this is ok somtimes not.

I will try to get a picture in the next day or two. I think it could be machined. I don't have a mill, but I've been looking for an excuse to get a mini-mill. The casting was very weak. I also tried to move the apron when it was very! cold. Thanks for the help.

    Part needed

I came across this link. It might help you in replacing that broken part. It also refers to Emco and Atlas as the ones who actually built the Craftsman lathes.

Search ebay...there are always craftsman lathes that someone is parting out. You could also try welding the pieces.
