Newbie- Sherline with IMService SYS-3A Servo System

I just wanted to get a general opinion on what you guys thought about the Sherline mill with IMService SYS-3A Servo System.

I understand it only works with their DeskCNC program, is there any draw back to that?

Are the servos strong enough so that you don't have to some counter weight system on the Z-axis head like some people have done with their Sherlines?

I have one of their router tables. If the servos on the lathe or mill are as strong as those on the table, they will be just fine on the other machines.
They provided parallel output on my table so I could use it with Mach3.
Call Fred and I believe he will do the same on these machines.

The system 3A is a serial port or USB (with adaptor) compatible controller that works with DeskCNC software.

Our Sys 4B is a parallel port system that works with Mach3, TurboCNC, EMC, CNC-Zeus, etc software.

Either is available, and neither is developmental. They both have the same power supply, drivers, motors, cables, etc. The price is the same, and the Sys-3A includes the DeskCNC software license.

We recommend the SYS3A over the SYS4B because there are more support issues with the parallel port software programs. An individual familiar with either one or the other controller software will be equally pleased with either system.

Neither controller needs a counterweight for a Sherline mill.
