Red face bringing chinese lathe across border

Has any Canadians out there purchased a lathe or mill in the USA and brought it across the border into Canada? The lathe I am looking at is made in China.I know I have to pay duty and taxes but is there anything else I have to worry about?

Electrical approval if you plan on using in a business. Are all the electrical components UL or CSA approved?
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

Get yourself a copy of the customs tariffs and check it thoroughly (available for download). I purchased an IH mill last year and brought it into Canada duty free. The mill is made in China, but it has a square column and dovetail ways, which is duty free under Canadian tariffs. It is well worth checking on, as I wouldn't trust the folks at the border to classify these items correctly, meaning you may be paying duties where none are due.
