    WW Collet Info

Does anyone have the dimensions and angle of the WW collet used in the sherline. Or can someone that has one measure the collet for me. I am designing a machine and would like to use this collet but need to see what the diamater of the spindle shaft ends up after I machine the taper . I really don't want to buy one as I would like to get this design done before the time it takes for sherline to ship one to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Dimensions that I need are:

Overall lenght taper angle and lenght of taper, barrel lenght and diameter, keyway size , and if there is any taper on the barrel .

    Thanks

    Jim Walthall

    Post This might help.

Have a look in this pdf. Your collet might be here.

Super X3. 3600rpm. Sheridan 6"x24" Lathe + more. Three ways to fix things: The right way, the other way, and maybe your way, which is possibly a faster wrong way.

That file doesn't have WW collets...

    Sherline's site only states:
Sherline WW collets that have a shank diameter of .312-.313". Other manufacturers make collets that vary in size up to .314-.315"

The larger size is referred to as an 8mm collet....

It does not appear to give the angle of the taper. AT least I do not seem to be able to find it.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

    degrees of separation

The Sherline document says to true the adapter to 20 degrees, so I'd bet the collet angle is ..... 20 degrees.

Yes, I know I'm 2 years too late

What good is it if it's not worth waiting two years for?

I thunk those were like C3 collets or something.
