HF 8x12 MOD (Bolt on QCTP)

Last week I purchased the new QCTP from Lathemaster. The UPS man delivered it today, so like a little kid I just had to play with it. The cool thing about this new model is that it’s truly bolt on; it doesn’t need a modified compound like the old version. It took me about 2 hours to clean off the packing grease and start making cuts.

O yea, the first thing that came to mind was no more shims. My last project, took about 30 hours, and I think 3 of those got taken up by fooling with shims. The other thing that made me happy is that I can still use my ½” tooling. Now I need to do away with the grinding.

I have never worked at Baxter, but wish I could.

BD812 QCTP and questions about other accessories

This QCTP from lathemaster makes the machine work. In retrospect the other toolposts are inadequate and poorly thought out.

Is there any way to get a faceplate for the 8X12, 8X14?? I have not been able to find one outside of the one advertised with the lathemaster as part of the original package. My lathe is the Sieg (i think) BD 812. No face plate was included with the package. I would also like to get a four jaw chuck. What do you know about these items?

If you have the 8x12 from HF its not a Sieg product.

The good new is that if you have the HF 8x12 you can find parts here including the faceplate.

I bought items from Lathemaster too - the 5" chuck and the gear reduction set are handy. He may sell the face plate you just have to ask.
