I have used up all my belts for my old Edestall Machinex mini-lathe and desperately need the belt that supplies power to the main pulley. It is a small belt 8.5 inch in diameter and roughly 1/8" wide. Does anyone know where I can find these belts? Gary Buffon |

| Hi: I've got a piece of literature that identifies these belts as being manufactured by Gates. This particular series is called PolyFlex. You can download their catalog from the company website. I measured my belt and it's about 1/8" wide by 17 1/4" in circumference. Looks like their part 3M437 might be a good fit. Looks as if they might have something roughly equivalent to the other belt (approx. 1/4" wide by 17 1/4" circumference). BTW: If you know of anyone with a spare faceplate or (I should be so lucky) an extra 3-jaw chuck, I'd appreciate hearing about it. It's damned hard trying to get anything to fit that 1" by 16TPI spindle node. Thanks, Charlie |

Charlie, I appreciate your assistance. Someone I know locally suggested I call the local Motions Industries outlet and I was able to order the correct Gates belt. I don't have any connection with folks that has spare parts or accessories. You might want to have someone make a threaded adapter so you can use other accessories on your machine. I may do that in the near future Gary Buffon |

Basically, this guy made a mounting block to attach a standard Taig lathe headstock, making all the Taig accessories available for use. He claimed that it was on center with the tailstock. I take no credit for the idea, I just wish I could remember the the guys Ebay name. I am going to give it a try, as the 3-jaw chuck that came with my Machinex lathe doesn't center properly. Plus, it would be nice to use the Taig collets, the faceplate, and the 4-jaw chuck. Probably not what you we looking for, but I hope it helps. Dave |
