    Mini Lathe

You know the crossfeed leadscrew, what size is the thread?

I ordered some bits and pieces off the internet, two items were one 10mm tap and one 10mm die.

basically with me wanting to CNC the lathe I needed to make a longer crossfeed leadscrew and its metric and my caliper says its 10mm well the 10mm die won't screw onto the shaft which it should,so anyone know if its metric or ACME?

    Cheers.

Pondering on this, why is it a lefthand thread? I mean it travels backwards and forwards as a righthand thread would have done as well.

Its intuitive to turn clockwise to move the crossfeed in and reduce the diameter. I think you'll find its pretty much industry standard for all lathes...
