JEWELRY MILLING

Hello, Everyone

I have been slowly introducing the use of cnc milling machine into our shop. We run a jewelry manufacturing company, where we manufacture wedding bands. Most of the manufacturing work is done on manual lathes, and swiss cut machines. We did use manual milling for a little design work. Now we have started to introduce the cnc milling machines. The potential is huge for product development. The only issue is we are using standard steel, carbide, and coated endmills. The tool paths need to be bright shinny finish, like when we use diamond tools on our lathes. I have been looking for diamond End mills, do they exist, and where can i find them from.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You might have better luck one forum up (Benchtop machines) since this is a lathe oriented "corner" of the forum.

Also (And I was thinking on this the other night) I don't see why you couldn't use a felt or rubber buffing wheel, doped in polishing compound and about the same size as your cutting bit to do the final pass on something. http://www.widgetsupply.com/page/WS/CTGY/dremel-polish
