Made my first gear, a 21 tooth change gear for cutting metric threads on a 7 x. I could have bought one, but now I know how to make any size. It's not perfect, but it will work and the next one will be better.

Thank you, fellow HSMs. It wasn't really hard at all. The hardest part is cutting the form tool. I was intimidated by dividing plates, but once I started to do it, it was cake. After setup, the hardest part is counting three turns. I missed the keyway a little, but it will work. I'll snap a shot of the setup this weekend. Not much "meat" between the keyway and the valleys between the teeth, so I might make one from brass. This will get me through the one metric thread I need to cut for a project, but it will be nice to have a 21 tooth, as it really opens up thread capabilities. Congrats on the gear! I need to start getting in to rotary type tooling and work holding... it's getting to where it would be handy for so much.
