    Default Mini-lathe speed control problem

I have a HF mini-lathe (it is old) that developed a speed control problem. When I turn the control knob to very low RPM it jumps to maximum. When I move it to a faster RPM it eventually goes back to normal. It is kind of scary when this happens and a workpiece is in there!

See a video of the problem...

Thoughts on what on the control board is failed?

    Thanks!

Do you have a bad pot or wire connection? Those are the first items I would check.
