Default Motor advise for Compact 5 build

    Hi,

I am upgreading an emco compact 5 cnc

Can anyone please recomend what steppers would be good for cutting tool steel but also with good speed rapids, they have to be nema 23...

Also can anyone recomend a good main spindle motor for a Emco compact 5 with a good speed range upto 3000 rpm and with good tourque for cutting steel at low speed.

If anyone knows make and supplies availible in the UK that would be great if not I can order from abroad, I do not mind spending a little more to get good motors!

    Many Thanks,

    Joel

I've always heard treadmill motors are a really good upgrade for small mills and lathes. I've got one, not tried it yet. You want the controller and any parts in the circuit. If you have ally's in the UK, search the ally's for a free one from teh dust bin. See: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showth...ighlight=motor regarding HP ratings.

Wen I was young, I spent most of my money on fast women, slow horses, and cheap booze. The rest of it I just wasted.
