Default CNC parts for the HF 95012 mini lathe

    Hey guys,

I've been in contact with Sieg regarding parts for the KC0 lathe, which they no longer produce for whatever reason. My first go-around with them gave me a price of $229 for every possible piece that would be needed for the conversion, right down to the last nut & bolt. Didn't seem bad, but then they said it would be $100 for shipping. I wasn't sure I wanted to spend that much on my $82 lathe.

I took another look at what would REALLY be "necessary" to do the conversion, and I came up with the following parts and prices, which seem really cheap. Only problem is, they don't have P/N 154, which is the large timing pulley. I suppose I could find out how many teeth it is, and find one at SDP or some such place. These part numbers are taken from the .PDF list & drawing that knudsen so kindly posted on the HF mini-lathe thread a few weeks ago. The prices they gave me are FOB, meaning you still have to pay for shipping to the US. If we had enough people interested in a group buy, we could probably get the total price of the items below to around $75 or so. Total is $58.37 without shipping.
We'd have to source our own motors & hardware. I assume (yeah, yeah, I know...) that the motor brackets are for NEMA 17 motors. I also didn't include the hardware for the limit switches, because I think they are a single-direction switch or what they call a "Home position" switch. I imagine those components wouldn't add more than another $10 to the price.

Anyone interested in a group buy?

    P/N QTY PRICE TOTAL

    173 1 $2.10 $2.10
    172 2 $1.80 $3.60
    171 2 $5.52 $11.04
    160 1 $3.65 $3.65
    152 1 $1.60 $1.60
    153 1 $1.22 $1.22
    154 1 $- $0.00
    155 2 $0.18 $0.36
    156 2 $2.60 $5.20
    158 2 $0.18 $0.36
    157 2 $4.00 $8.00
    167 1 $0.90 $0.90
    166 1 $1.22 $1.22
    162 1 $12.20 $12.20
    168 1 $4.32 $4.32
    175 1 $2.60 $2.60

    $58.37

Ahhh, I missed the thread... I don't think I'll be CNCing mine any time soon. It would be the one to CNC though, as that would eliminate the weakness of the lacking crossfeed.

I might be more interested in speeding it up a bit. And, of course, making all the gizmos we need to have like a tailstock chuck. I started an arbor, got to cutting the m14 x 1 thread and that spun off several side projects including the recent gear I was so proud of.

    WHEN WILL IT END???

I saw that gear buddy! NICE!
Not sure if I'll end up doing the CNC thing or not on this one, but if I can get the parts shipped cheap enough I will pick them up. Just waiting to hear back from them on shipping. The guy I'm talking with said that because it would be a really small & light order it could probably go express, which is supposedly cheaper. We'll see.........
