I have 2 Partners ( 1995 vintage ) that I have replaced the monitors with 12" LCD screens . The small screens are hard to find , but they are out there for about $99.
Look inside the control box at how the original Monitors are wired in .
Standard VGA plug , and a 2 pin connector for 120vac .
I made an aluminum box that screws to the front of the control where the orig monitor was , and have an acrylic sheet to protect the screen .
Not really a big job if you do it carefully . The F keys do not line up like the original , but you get used to it . I actually ran it with an old ( free ) computer monitor on top of the control box , and plugged the 120v into the wall plug , for a few months , but got tired of looking up so far .

POD 12" Monitor

I bought a 12" POD monitor on ebay for my P1 and also bought a 15 pin to 9 pin adapter for it. When I turn on the machine the monitor does not display anything. It just says NO SYNC. It says the same thing even when its unplugged from the video card. Does this have something to do with the pin out? connections in the adapter?

Thanks John

I'm going through this myself on a Partner 1D machine.

The original video card is EGA and not compatible with the newer VGA standard. A 9>15 pin adapter won't help you without also changing the video card.

The cards are all over fleabay for under 30 bucks. You might also consider craigs list, but will likely need to post a wanted ad for obsolete equipment.

Video card

Do you know if the card is ISA or PCI ? I do not have access to the back of my machine currently.

It's an 8 bit ISA, but there's an empty 16 bit slot right next to it on my machine, so that's what I used with a 16 bit card - worked great.

Yep, snatch it up!

I actually just got another video card in a 486dx4 for 10 bucks - but I'm curious about the whole computer swapping over. There's 3 full length ISA slots, a hard drive, and a couple compumotor cards in it. That was 10 bucks.

Unfortunately, the machine has the ancient big keyboard plug on it, so I'm unable to see what's installed as it won't boot up without it.

Video card

Jim
Got time today to look at my machine and it looks like they put the 8 bit video card in the 16 bit slot. So if I remove the current card I should be able to plug the new 16 bit card into its place. What about the jumper from the video card to the board next to it what do I do with that? Also will I need another 15 to 9 pin adapter for the card or do I run a new cable to the LCD?

Thanks john

I opted for the path of least possible failure and went with the new cable all the way to the card. I'm inside my machine replacing motor wiring anyway, so I've got all the covers off as it is.

There's an outfit on fleabay selling 15' cables for $11 shipped, so I went that route rather than trying to hunt one down locally (since everything uses DVI these days).

I'm not sure what problems you'd have by adapting it, but I think you'd still end up needing to cut a hole in the grill to fit the adapter. Might want to double check what you sacrifice with the 15>9 pin reduction. I think it's a bunch of grounds, but I don't know how that translates into the signal quality.

I got a chance to install my new card. I bought a Cirrus Logic 256 k 16 bit card. It works but the screen flickers a little and it does not fit the whole screen on the top and bottom. Did you have to install any drivers for your card? I tested my LCD on another PC and it works fine so I do not think there is a problem with the Monitor.
