    homing a VMC-30

Just got this machine it is a 2005. When I turn the machine on it says that the e-button is depressed and/or the axis limit switch is engaged. Please reset drivers.

How do I reset the drivers? The e-button isn't depressed.

    Please help!

Is this happening at power-up or have you already homed the machine? If you are powering up, have you pressed the reset button?

Yes, the reset button doesn't do anything. It still displays the message.

You may be on one of the full limit switches. Can you hold down the reset button and move the table?

Press and hold the green reset button found on the front panel. If the error 450 message goes away, then it may be that one or more of the axis are sitting on a limit switch. If this is not the case, then it may be possible that one of the switches is shorted and or depressed. Jumpering terminal blocks (found inside the electrical cabinet) 6, 7, 8, and 9 will help you determine what axis you may be having a problem with. Jumper 6-7 for the X axis, 7-8 for the Y axis, and 8-9 for the Z axis.
It may be possible that the machine will not enable because of a drive fault. What are the axis drives and spindle drive(s) displaying?
Measure the DC voltage between terminal blocks 12 and 22. Again, these are found inside the electrical cabinet. There will be several terminal block 12's and several terminal block 22's. You can probe any one of those terminal blocks. You should have 24VDC bewteen 12 and 22.

Thanks, it was something in the electrical cabinet. We couldn't afford the downtime so we got the repair man in.

So what do these terminal blocks do though?

Terminal blocks are just used to provide an easy location to wire components to. TB12 and TB22 are used for 24VDC items.
