partner 1 Z axis excess error problem

when you comand a tool change it will put the old tool away but when the Z
tries to go up to except the new tool I get a Z excess error.There are no leds lit on the drive bords.you can reset drives without rebooting and you can move the Z in hand wheel with out any trouble so I don't think there is anything wrong with the motor it self any ideas?
