I would like to upgrade the cpu in my partner MB20 with centurion 6 controller, and increase hard drive space and ram. Has anyone done this? can any computer tech do this or do I contact a professional? I'd like to avoid using rs-232 and DNC to run bigger programs, is there a better way to load programs bigger than 1.44 Mb. |

| Milltronics would be able to upgrade the control so that you may have more memory in the control. While upgrading to the SBC (single board computer) you are able to add our card reader option, which will allow you to load larger files using a compact flash card, memory stick, etc... |

| I agree, max out your memory. I have a MB19 that can handle an 4 meg file. Also, I don't post process line numbers..they take up memory. If I have to I'll add a line number at each tool change or where the operation changes for a tool I'm reusing. I can then jump ahead without having to recut an area. pix

| You could add a network connection. That is what I use and it is so nice. I added a big hard drive long time ago but with the network I never use it. Now having said that, my Centurion 6 has 16MB of ram and will load about a 10MB g-code file. Running from ram is way better than DNC. It offers many advantages like stop-start and search for tool etc. And it will parse and check the entire file before you start the run. Now having said that, INHO, the fact that Milltronics offers an upgrade for us to move to an SBC is very cool and I have every intention of taking them up on that one of these days when I get a break. I would like my CPU to be much faster so it could verify my files with out having to take 30 min. to do it. Cheers SF |
