centurian control

I was just wondering how everybody liked the centurian control for ease of use, function, etc. Also has anyone ever tested or run a centroid control? on any machine?
Thanks

The Centurion is a nice control. Reminds me of Okuma for ease of use. Never seen a Centroid.

Farmers Machine is on a distinguished road

I have used haas, mitsubishi M3 and M5, Mazak, fanuc, Seimens, Hyundai easy key, heidenhein. I have 2 centurion 6 controls and they are by far the fasted, easiest, idea or print to finished part in your hand, control, that is on the market today. I like them so well that I drove and old Mori Seiki lathe to Minnesota 1300 miles one way to have it retrofitted with a new Centurion 7 control. If your boss will spring for it go to Millrtonics in minnesota and go thru their factory training class and you will have your machine signing your name to your parts. remember you asked for my opinion but 40 years in machine shops has to count for something.

Centurion 6

Does anyone know where I can find basic specs for the centurion 6 control. I'm looking at a used VM17 and I'd like to know information like will it do 3-axis simultaneous? Would I be able to get a post for Edgecam to run it?

I use the Centurion 6 for mold making and yes it will do 3-axis simultaneous. You’ll have to ask Edgecam for a post.

Darn!!! I just canceled my Edgecam subscription because they weren't fixing the known problems so I'm paying $2k a year so someone else can do 4 and 5 axis stuff. Do they still owe me a post if I change machines??? I'll have to ask.

Good luck with that one! Have you tried the Edgecam forum? Can you edit the posts in Edgecam? The Fanuc post is pretty close, maybe you can tweak it.

In fact a Centurion 6 will do 4-axis simultaneous. Mine does.

Actually, maybe it's not as hard as I think. The hardest part is not knowing what I might have to tweak. Can you give some examples of what I might run into?

Cool. The partner VMC's look like nice little machines. Are they pretty reliable? If I picked up a late 90's machine, what are the odds of it being worn or unreliable?

Unfortunately, there don't seem to be any close enough to me (southern NY) to be worth going to inspect.
