milltronics RH30 control

We are considering a milltronics RH30, Before we talk to the salesman about the control/memory packages, what do you reccomend.
We will be doing a lot of one or two ofs. We also don't want to limit the capabilities. Does the CAM program chosen matter? ie. cheaper program= bigger files? Im sure we are also going to try some complicated cuts to see what the machine can do. Also it will more than likely have the 4th axis table.
Thanks

Get the control panel with real keys, not the membrane type! Get the floppy drive. Get flood coolant package and worklight. Pretty much all of SOFTWARE PACKAGE A is useful and powerful. Get the handwheel, remote handwheel is awesome for setups. Get the Off-line FastCAM Software.
You'll be able to do everything right out of the box, making parts as you decide IF you need a CAM package.

memory

Any idea on memory?
the list part storage memory
program execution memory (RAM?) w/ large program management software
and theres also just a 256Mb memory upgrade.
I'm not sure what programs require? especially if i use CAM software thats not as efficient as others (output file size)

Hi awjareme,
_
The more efficient CAM programs make the LARGER files. Since you are consistently mentioning CAM programs, you WOULD be well advised to go with the most memory to avoid having to "drip feed" your programs from a separate PC. A fourth axis and CAM, making complicated parts (ball endmill profiling for example) can consume much memory quickly.

Farmers Machine is on a distinguished road

I have 2001 RH 30 with 2 speed wye delta motor tool changer and package A B and C 90% of programming is done at the control on simple 3D parts. for 4 and 5 axis parts I use Gibbs cam, There is a way to import a DXF file directly into the control and it will make program for you, so a good drafting software like solid works or autocad would be helpful. also with a good print the conversational programming is so simple to use. the machine has gone as long as 28 days without powering down and is always ready for the next round. A very ridgid and powerful machine for cutting 4140 and stainless, also does good in aluminum but the spindle I chose is on the slow side. Have no problem pulling 2.375 spade in 572 Grade 50 plate 3" thick. If you will do a lot of large diameter rotary work you may consider a column riser so you could use long drill bits over a high workpiece. Give an Idea of the work you plan to do and I could offer more ideas on options, Thanks the Farmer.
