i have an rh30 vmm and we are running a program with 2 vices on the table our machinist is out for a while (injury) and i am "trying" to run the machine. i have been a programmer for this machine only and it is my only experience with machining. with the machinist out i realize how valuable he is. now to my question: we have a g54 and a g55 that cut the same part twice how do i tell the machine that there are separate z values for each vice. i saw in the parameter-offset menu a way to set a z offset but how do i set the tools in the first place for the different g54/g55 settings thanks John |

| Set the x and y for the g54 for the first vice and then set the x and y for the g55 for the second vice. look at the main-parms-coord, there are work coordinates there. Make sure the z component of the work 1 and work 2 coordinates are zero. Do a g54 and touch off all your tools normally on the first vice. With one of the tools go over to the second vice and measure what the z difference is. go back to the main-parms-coord screen and modify the work 2 coordinate z value with that difference. check that you got the offset in the correct polarity; do a G55 and go over to the second vice and make sure it is correct.
