why don't you check your path.dat file and see if it is correct. Check in ram and rom.
Hi, i have a 1996 standard-modern late with milltronics centurion v control , this lathe has been sitting a long time and is more or less a pet project i have been restoring over the years.
I did a parameter restore from the factory floppy disc to try and resolve some issues , turns out the disc was corrupt .
Milltronics has a copy but through my Canadian dealer its over $300.00 to get it to my door , and i think that's insane.
Before i drop the money on the disc i was thinking someone may have a backup from a similar machine with the same control ,
i have the paper version in my manual so i can edit all the specifics as needed but i need something to start from .
Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

you could check the previous post in this forum to see what your path.dat "should" look like.
PFILE.dat is definitely corrupt , That's what led to this whole situation when i reloaded from the factory floppy , what one was the previous post ? i have been using the search function and not finding much .
i am not able to attach a copy through the forum due to the extension
The previous post in the Milltronics forum. Sportybob posted some information on what path.dat does. Could be helpful. It would be helpful for us to know what kind of control you have. Take the cover off of the control and take a picture. I'm sure Bob would need to know if it has been upgraded or is original. You may be able to format the sram and get up and going.
i see the post now , here are more pics , if you need one from a specific board let me know , Thanks
Call Milltronics' service department, I believe they can e-mail you a copy of the B:\RAM folder from your updated computer.
Keep pressing a key when asked until you finally get a prompt.
Then type this exact line: copy a:\ram\pfile.dat b:\ram enter
This should copy a generic parameter file into the B:\RAM folder. Now try to re-boot. When the control comes up, you can load the files you get from Milltronics, or you will need to use your paper copy of the parameters to edit the pfile.
Re-boot again to have the control running with the correct parameter files.
Thanks for the reply , When i spoke to Milltronics last they were unwilling to email me anything , Might have to do with being a Canadian customer ?
They directed me to my Canadian Milltronics dealer (the only one) im going to try what you said to get back into the control , even if i had to type the one file from my paper copy that would be ok .
Thanks for your help
when i booted the machine this morning i noticed it booted into the machine control for a split second before coming to this error screen , i have seen the screen and i think its in my original post but i didn't notice it flicker into the control before .
I'm sorry. I haven't paid attention closely enough.
Ignore my last suggestion, you don't have an A:\RAM folder. In order to be using 5.320 software, your control has been upgraded to a single board computer so there isn't a simdisk card.
Try this:
Type this line at a prompt: copy c:\ram\pfile.ref c:\ram\pfile,dat enter. This should give you a generic parameter file that you can change with your hard copy.
Also, make sure your path.dat file looks like this:
C:\ROM\
C:\RAM\
C:\PARTS\
D:\
A:\
A:\
This texting back-and-forth thing is difficult, 5 minutes on the phone will usually solve this kind of problem. PM me a number and a time you can be at the machine and I will call you.
I have been removing the CF card and using a card reader on my pc to look through everything its much easier , i edited the path file as you suggested and was able to boot into the control , however screen resolution's and some other stuff seemed off , i made a ghost image of the CF card as well as a backup of all files on the card , long story short between doing all this i formatted the card and checked for errors then re imaged it , and now i have really bugged it up . the image didn't work , i can reinstall dos and boot fine , even direct it to the lathe.exe , but now it wont find the Path.dat even though all directories remain the same. i believe i may have to edit the resources . Needless to say i messed up.
Is there a way to find out who updated the control ? and possibly just get a fresh start ? or is there anyone who updates these controls ?
PM your phone number or an e-mail address to me and I will contact you directly. I have copies of the 5.320 version of software and we can get it re-loaded for you.
