Default Took 12 years but we seemed to have found the problem!!

I bought a VM22 new in 2005 but it has intermittently lost track of what tools are in what holders since new and no one could troubleshoot it because it was so random. It appears the issue was simply the mill never had the third leg wired in. The wire was in but not tightened down at all. Luckily (?) we were hit by lightening twice about a month ago, the bolt came through our dedicated step down transformer and hit the back cabinet but also came through the ethernet connection and took out the computer in the front panel too. As we were trouble shooting the backside we came across the wire that was on the Mill side of the 50amp fuses had never been connected, it was only touching lightly. The mill would about every three or four months not start up the first time we would switch the paddle to on in the back until we would do it a second or third time. Anyhow, they believe their was some "noise" of some sort affecting the mill causing it to randomly lose track of the tools in the tool changer. I hope this helps someone. I've spent 12 years not trusting this mill on start up and having to recheck every tool, every single day for a dozen years.

    Live and learn I guess~

Shame on the person who started this machine up at delivery. I would re-check every connection I could reach before I powered a new machine up for the first time - all the terminal strips, the drives, the relays and contactors, etc. I found a number of bad connections, but then I installed a lot of new machines.

Milltronics' guys do a great job of building machines, but everybody can make a mistake.
