has anyone looked at Milltronics website and seen the 10000.00 off if you purchace a machine with A,B.C and D package. That is a great deal in my book, you get alot of machine for the money.

no you are not alone, i have been using milltronics for about 10 years. we have a 2003 ml14 lathe, a 1997 vk5 mill, and last year i bought a new rw15 because of the rebate. for the price it can't be beat. while milltronics doesn't have the big name or sales of other brands, i have found it to be highly productive. many complex jobs can be programed in a few minutes with the conversational software, and without a lot of head scratching. this makes it great for a tool shop or custom low production parts. in 32 years i have learned it is about getting the job done right and shipped as quick as possible, not about being the smartest boy on the block. these machines are often overlooked by shops due to the lack of any big time advertising. i have also found support to be great with virtually no limit on the length of phone calls to tech support. it is a great value.

how do you like your rw15? I was looking at the rw20 for some 304ss parts we are having trouble with, does it hold tolerances +-.0005.

it's a great machine. i could add for the price, but it is a great little-big machine no matter what. it can hold .0005 with no problem, of course, your cutters better be right, and you have to watch the wear factor. we are a tool and mold shop, so we don't get too involved in production. when we make 2 or 4 cores or cavities or dies, i can easly tease in the size. the relationship between the x and y axis is easily within a total of .0005. a good test is mill a square with radius corners and measure x, y, and across the corners both ways. any slop or problems will show right up. i build a specialized type of pinch trim die, and can mill punch and die to better than .001. my rw is always less than .0005 total deviation. i find this great, because it is just a milling machine, and not a jig-bore. i keep buying milltronics because the control is just plain easy to use and productive, ( i am getting lazy in my old age) and the whole machine is a bargain in the marketplace. coolant control is very good, doesn't get any on the floor. actually, i use my old vk5 a lot because it is the first machine i bump into when i am setting up a job. if you are looking for a good inexpensive machining center, you could do a hell of a lot worse than an rw machine.
