The various combinations of drive assignments possible make the exact description difficult to explain, but this is the technique:

Put the Parameters disk in the floppy drive.
At the DOS prompt, type COPY floppydriveletter:\RAM\PFILE.DAT ramdriveletter:\RAM enter

So, for an older Cent5 machine, you would type COPY C:\RAM\PFILE.DAT B:\RAM where the C drive is the floppy drive and the B drive has the RAM directory.

Not at all, that is what the control does when you LOAD parameters from inside the control software.

You have lost any changes since the last SAVE and the Tool Offsets and Work Coordinates are probably wrong but those are easy to re-set.

This is the reason I suggest frequent parameter saves.

I want to stay on top of this from now on! So what exactly is the best process of doing this? If I could get a step by step I'd like to follow a set procedure everytime. So what do u say once a week.

It's really simple, put a fresh floppy disk in the drive then press F7 Parms - F6 Save. Remember to label the disk with the date.

After you have several disks made, you can start a rotation schedule: over-write the oldest disk in the set.

So after I got params reloaded and saved. My last problem is this. I can get any external .txt programs to load into the control. My usuall procedure was prog>files>load>set>start and this usually goes without a hitch.now when go to load I get error 302 and it says there are no programs to load. I can see them in dos and I can see them and verify them when I go to prog>ram also when go to run and try to type letters I can't get any letters only numbers to show up. I can use letters in the conv screens to title and put description. Its almost like the control doesn't know how to referance the a drive after I reloaded the parameters.
