screen and vector dirve in centurion 6 problems

just got my machine wired up to the panel today. the machine turns on and during startup the screen displays fine. but as soon as the control comes up it is cropped and chopped in the left and lower sides of the screen. also the V7 vector control has the error light on and is displaying EF on the digital display. Please help with any info on what it might be or where i might research to figure this out. The machine is a partner 3 mill with a centurion 6 retrofit done by chris machine thru milltronics.

That display problem is a symptom of incorrect CMOS settings usually caused by a dead battery. Sometimes you can change the display resolution parameter in the Power parameters to 640x350 and see the entire screen.

To try it, you will need to press the buttons even though you can't see them.

Try this: after you power the machine up and you see the partial display, press F7-F1-F1.
Key in the password PROTO3 and press enter, then press another 3.
Now press F9 and the screen should go black. The next step depends the age of your machine.
If this is an older simdisk machine, key in a:\cnc\cnc /v0 (foreslash v zero)
If this is a newer single board computer machine, key in c:\cnc\cnc /v0

If this works, get back to level 3 and change the Power patameter.

The error on the drive should go away when you reset the machine.

Good luck.

I don't have an external keyboard hooked up and cannot find a spot to actually plug one in. Is it possible that it is inside the enclosure with the screen and the keys. Or do I even need one to perform this attempt at fixing it? And also as far as level 3 power parameter correction what exactly am I doing here?

If you don't have a socket for the keyboard on the side of the front panel, there is a socket located on the Keypad Encoder Board just behind the alpha/numeric keypads.

However, you can do this using the keypads. Use the shift+period to get the colon( and shift+ minus to get the backslash(\).

If the /v0 works, then go to level 3, go to F3 Power, go down to Video Mode, and press F3 to toggle to 640x350.

When you re-boot, you should see the full screen.

You will still need to address the battery problem at some point.

I was able to figure out the shift keys and the v0 worked kinda. It shrunk the screen down so I could see it verticlly but the left side is still croped out up to the f2 key at the bottom. I found a parameters disk will this help. And also what can I possibly do about the vector control?

Ok hers where I'm at. The machine turns on while the " computer loads" like showing the processor and IDE drive info the display is perfect as far as proportion and aspect ratio. But once the text comes on showing the controler info the image is "shifted over to the left side actually cutting that side of as far as the image itself leaving black space on the right side. ( I can provide pictures if this will help. Now when I try to home the machine. F1 F1 I beilieve it seems to do fine inside the controller like its actually homing the machine but nothin happens. Inside the box on the back of the machine (where all the electrical connections are made as well as the transformers and the CPU brain. There is a yaksawa V7 vector control drive that has the alarm light flashing and is displaying EF. Everything seems fine in the control box out back except the wiring to the automatic oiler is disconnected and I don't know where to hook it back up at. I'm assuming the machine will run without it.

C6 screen display

When you power up the machine, there should be a red box in the upper right corner with an "error 450" e-stop message, this is the normal condition after power up. Pressing the reset button to the left of the e-stop switch should reset the machine and allow the drives to engage.

The EF (external fault) on the drive would indicate that the machine is not in a "reset" condition. After reset the drive would normally display the spindle frequency as a F00.

If you are not getting a 450 error on boot up, it would mean that you are missing 24VDC from the power supply to the control.
This could go back to your orginal problem in another post about the DC buss cap / acrcing at the power plug. Arcing at the incomming power plug could have also damaged the spindle drive.

From the screen shots you posted it it may be that your display needs to be adjusted. Mounted on the back of the display is a an adjuster board, power off the machine, plug in the attached connector to the display, power on the machine, by pressing the little buttons on the adjuster board you can adjust the horizontal and vertical, After adjusting, power off the machine and unplug the connector from the display. Note: running the machine with the connector attached will cause the display to do "funky" things.

one more thing

I forgot you oiler problem, it should be wired to terminal blocks, 1 and 2
TB-1 is the main 110 AC power TB-2 is the return. If your machine has a TB57 you can wire it to TB-57 (110vac on reset) and TB-2.

sorry for the delay folks i had my controller in at milltronics and they gave it a clean bill of health after fixing the cmos battery that had went out and then resetting the params but after reinstalling it still not power to the motors. or and red box with an estop message so where do i go from here. there is a unit i am assuming that its a power supply is like a heatsink with a board in it there are two ends one end is the power input i guess two red wires and a green the red wires test 120 volts to eachother and to the green they test like an odd number somewhere around 60 or 70 on the other side there are a bunch of blue wires that all lead to distribution strips and one of the strips have some notes about a couple of the pins like 26 and 27 needing to test +15 and -15 respectivly and i cant recall the rest of the notes but these pins do not test for anything. if this is the problem what exactly is it and where would i find another

please let me know what part of the inside of this control box is the bridge rectifier or/and what part supplies the higher voltage that drives the servo motors. im thinking that maybe the 3 boxes that are in the picture with the servo dynamics cards. basically there are three boxes with red and black wires coming in and going to the cards.
