    Anodising Power Supplies

I'd like to have a go at small scale anodising and have found a few websites to guide me. Most talk about using 12v battery chargers or try to sell their own brand power supply at astronomical prices.

Can anyone recommend a 10-25a power supply easily obtainable in the UK for around the £100 mark thats suitable for anodising (and maybe chrome plating as well) ???

I'll be using 25litre tanks to anodise as many 40mm X 15mm discs as I can to a high quality standard.

    Dear Babba,

    Look at this link...
    http://www.kcb.co.uk/shop/en-gb/dept_24.html

The Palstar PS30M might do, but it doesn't look like you can set an output current automatically. You could regulate the current by tweaking the voltage though.

BTW, there is one up for sale on e-bay right now.....

    Best wishes,

    Martin

Maplins FAQ for that says :

    Q) Does the PSU have a variable current limiting control? - Alex
    A) No it will give what is taken from it.

Don't know how that will affect anodising but I need to get it right first time.

    Thanx anyways.

This is the best tutorial you will find online for free for anodizing.

Check around for a Mastertech Power supply with at least a 15v output and a decent amperage output rating. I have a 15V 35A power supply hooked up to my 30 gallon Anodizing tank. The size of the parts you will process is what will determine the size of the power source you will need.

You can find a lot of info digging around the forums on the Caswell Plating website. I got a power supply that retails for around 2K for $300 shipped on eBay
