    need help in NW ohio

o.k. I don't really need help, just searching for some local experiance...
    just purchased a V2E3
I can power it up, Jog move the table in X Y and Z (quill)
    but cannot program
not entirely sure of what I got, but I would like to retrofit to new controller.

yeah i know, I have LOTS of reading to do ! i am reading right along
but if anyone in my area could help familiarize me with the components and setup
I could teach as well in design (catia V5)

    v2e3

    Ryan,

Does your machine have servo motors or stepper motors? I think that if you have servos you cannot use Mach3.

it has servos ( i don't know the overall difference)
the servos have been upgraded/replaced at some point before I purchased it.

but why would you say servos won't work?

    Ryan,

I just read in one of the forums that Mach3 will not run servos.

Mach won't run analog servo drives. Mach WILL run step & direction servo drives like Viper and Gecko. Mach is a step and direction control and will not close the loop at the control. EMC will, and it's free.
