Need some tips for writing Machinist Redseal in Canada

Hi there, I am just curious if there are any machinists who have recently written the C of Q? If so could you be kind and help share the topics that wasnt common knowledge? I have read all my text books front to back but I am really nervous to write? I graduated with 4.0GPA but don't get a lot of training at my work. Any tips or links would be appreciated! Love the site, keep up the good work!!

I've never bothered to go for my ticket but most everyone that I know who has done it took the refresher coarse , from what i understand everything that you will be challenged on the test will be covered within the course , I think its only a couple week coarse and only a few hundred dollars . not sure what province your located but in BC they offer the class at bcit , I'm sure elsewhere will offer the same

Thanks. I chose not to do the course because it was the same teacher as I had for advanced theory. He said it was basically the same stuff we covered but in a shorter period of time. Just thought there might be some recently ticketed machinist's here with a couple tips to share!

I have Tool and die and industrial mechanic.
    1) As mentioned above - the refresher courses offered are great, they fill in the blanks on areas that your employment may not have exposed you to.
    2) If you have recently completed your apprenticeship and KNOW the theory that you were taught - your fine.

Just got my results back and I passed 79%. Thanks for the advice. Best advice I can give is Read the Krarr book front to back and pay attention to the practical setups for lathes, mills, grinders etc. and know your feeds, speeds and how to calculate machining times. I don't have that much shop experience other than on a lathe so that is how I studied. I didn't take the prep class either, all you need is in the text!
