    San Diego area machinists?

    Hi all,

I'm moving to San Diego in a few weeks and wanted to get in touch with local hobbyist machinists. I've learned the basics on a Monarch lathe and Bridgeport knee mill (either fully manual or eztrak MDI entry) over a few years at my university machine shop, but am leaving that all behind on the east coast. I am hoping to get my own equipment in the next few months, but since I know I won't be able to get the big beasts I trained on, I first want to connect with other SoCal machinists and get a better idea of what to look for in "hobbyist-class" lathes and mills. I can share a lot of electrical engineering and software experience, and some Solidworks experience.

There was an earlier thread about a San Diego hobby machinist meetup group, but that seems to have disappeared.

    Best,

    Mike

Machines available, and then access to the CNC later.

What projects are you interested in doing?
    There are many resources here.
    Plenty of shops available.

    San Diego Machinist

    Gents,

I think this might be a good symbiotic relationship. You need access to mills and we have two Bridgeports knee mills in the shop (and are looking for a Haas VF2 and some lathes in the near future) with no machinist on staff. Would you be interested in having meetings at our shop on our equipment in exchange for teaching some vets?

    Please contact me if interested,
