Info for a technical paper about stepper motor applications

Hello,

I'm a Belgian student in industrial design and I have to write a technical paper about stepper motors and there applications. It's not easy to find good technical information or articles about why to use stepper motors (in stead of servo motors for example) and how they are driven in CNC applications. Is somebodey could help me with some articles or interesting links ???

Or if somebodey has some technical information about 4 or 5 axial cnc milling machines? Becaus as well in the company where I do my intership as in my shool they can not drive the 5 th axis correctly.

Just some more questions, does enybodey knows where to find some information about the communication between a computer who converts a solid model to G code or nc code for 3d milling and the milling machine ?
