I am looking for either a mentor or apprentice in the Jacksonville IL town; future goals do include possibility of moving to the Provo area of Utah in late spring or early summer, in which case I would need a mentor or apprenticeship there. What I need to learn is basic machining guidelines, setup, different tools, G code in better detail (I know some of the G code, not all). I recently stripped a large laser printer to grab parts that are suitable for a homebuilt CNC machine, and learned about steps/inch, steps/rotation, etc. in order to learn about what kind of precision i can get with a given stepper motor and leadscrew setup. Any help would be appreciated; I love learning hands on. ![]() AC-130U |
