One year in Thailand!

We are setting up a shop on a tropical island in Thailand and need someone with previous work experience with CNC mills, lathes and plastic injection molding.

Work would be half time and involve installation and setting up a 150 ton plastic injection molding machine, mold making and running part programs as well as building jigs and fixtures for CNC lates and VMC's.

The shop is tied to a scuba operation so there will also be opportunity to participate in dive courses. Salary would be on the low end, but compensated with free dive education, full board and a fantastic life style for 6 - 12 months.

Just curious, what island is this? Phuket/Koh Phi Phi area? or Koh Samui on the Eastern side in the gulf? I have spent some time there on vacation (before the Tsunami).

Yes this is Koh Samui on the eastern seaboard, so the tsunami risk is not too high.

Spent a year in Thailand, 2 months at Ubon, 10 months at Korat...even the Thais didn't like Korat much...

Didn't like it much then, but spent the rest of my Air Force career trying to get back...closest I came was California!!!!

Hi, I have just read your item on the CNC Blog. Can you tell me what software you are using and when this position is available. I intend on moving to Thailand next year and will be seeking some employment. I have been in the plastics industry for about 20 years now so have quite a lot of knowledge on machinery etc. A lot more I can tell you if you are interested.

You must be as old as dirt, I am. I did 14 months at Korat, and 6 months at NKP (Nakkon Phonom), might as well as been in Cambodia as far as the NKP duty. Korat was great duty in comparison. Another 9 months at Da Nang, Republic of, now that really sucked.
