Hey all. I've been in the industry about 6 years now. Unfortunately, with the way things are today, we don't see apprenticeships anymore. I'm sure others have experienced the same with false promises from companies when first joining only to find yourself caught up in employee politics and not getting anywhere. I've found that many I've met, so far, continue to be a machinist because it's a job or they know nothing else. I've met but one man in my experience so far who actually shared the same passion for the art and really wants to take it somewhere. At the same time unfortunately, this person does not have the time or means to mentor someone right now. I'm seeking out someone who does fit this description. Having a passion for engineering and enjoys keeping this dying trade alive. If anyone on Long Island, NY lives or works near the Nassau County area and you are looking to to mentor someone please drop me an e-mail at blackpearlinc@hotmail.com. I'm a hard working, enthusiastic individual and always willing to put in the time needed. Thanks for your time to anyone who took the time to give this thread a view.
