Hello,
I'm new to this and would enjoy getting some pointers from local people.
I'm in Farmers Branch.
Thanks in advance.

Hello all,
We are coming up on October. Lets figure out how many people are interested in meeting up.
Perhaps we could work up a mailing list of folks also. It would certainly keep us better up to date on what we are doing as a group. (faster response time for sure).
HI, SEE LINK TO VECTRIC CLASSES. IT LOOKS LIKE A GOOD ONE. AND FOR THE PRICE WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO GET THAT MUCH TRAINING.

Next weekend there's going to be a North Texas CNC user group meeting somewhere in Fort Worth. Hopefully someone will drop by to announce the venue in here. Last meeting was pretty fun, though a bit of a drive. Be sure to bring cash for T-Shirt purchases.
Anyway, I am up for doing dinner this weekend or sometime in October. A mailing list would be pretty sweet, but if you put it in my hands to organize it will never happen.
Also Phoenix and I have registered for the Vectric user group meeting so we'll be seeing most of you guys there I bet. $80 for two days of training and free lunch / breakfast is a pretty sweet deal.
So about this meeting that is to take place, any word as to like when/where/time etc?
I emailed Charlie and asked him to drop by this thread with details about the CNC user group meeting on Saturday. I haven't heard back from him about a venue yet.
Edit: Got a response from Bob Campbell, no meeting this month. Next month they're planning something cool but I don't want to spoil the surprise and it isn't a sure thing yet anyway.
Since there's no user group meeting, how do you guys feel about doing another dinner or lunch somewhere in Dallas?
Also let's start organizing a mailing list for everyone in this thread.

I would be interested in attending. I am in the McKinney/Frisco area. If there is a mailing list please include me.
I took the liberty of creating a mailing list. I set it up so anyone can join but the contents are private so we can be a little more free with personal information and such. If you would like to join go to

thanks, Ben
I also created a calendar so we can keep each other informed of events in the area. Anyone who would like to help keep the calendar up to date please let me know.

Friday through Saturday this week there's going to be a woodworking show at Big Town Mall in Mesquite. The North Texas CNC users group will be there, along with several other local hobbyist groups.

Bob Campbell needs volunteers to help run the table, so email him if you can help. I'm going to try to work a shift myself.
Hi All!
With December here and my personal goal of cutting something on my machine by the end of November, I'm here to report, I've since moved my goal.
I do have the table up and running (monitor replacement and a new APC UPS unit required).
I've had to move my focus to finishing out my work area, ie, insulation going up, ceiling along with shop lights, etc. One must have light along with an environmental temperature to work in.
I like the idea of the mailing list! Great job!
Shall we setup a time to meet up in January?
For those new people in the area, I'd be happy to work with software and such with you. Join the mailing list, (a few post up) and hit me up. "osphoto"

I'd be up for doing a lunch or something this weekend if people were interested. I'm assuming somewhere slightly north of 635 would be best. I know Twisted Root Burger Co opened up a new location at 75 and Campbell which could be pretty good.

I'd suggest 2 or 3 PM on Saturday when it slows down a bit, the place is usually packed from what I understand. The Deep Ellum location is certainly pretty busy around the clock.
Other suggestions: Freebird's in Addison is pretty central for everyone north and south. I'm assuming we want to be within a few blocks of 75 or the Tollway for convenience?
I'll go ahead and send this post to the Google Groups mailing list as well.
If there's less than 5 RSVPs by Friday night or maybe 10AM Saturday morning I'll probably call it off and start organizing for the next weekend instead. I think we have 3 so far, counting me.
