I am looking for a source for a high speed rotary coupling that will handle 35,000 rpm.

thanks

I'd like to find a solution for attaching coolant to a high speed spindle as well...
There are a lot of things to be conserned about though.

Pressure, RPM, syntrifcal force...
I wonder at what point coolant that is pumped through a rotating spindle would just spin off laterally because of syntrifical force? If it did, it would not reach to cut zone...

Interesting,

Question

Dab,
Thanks for the link. I look at these and they won't handle 35,000 rpm or 2000 psi coolant. Also the taper on this Okuma is a HSK 63F. It had a 25000 rpm rotary that wouldn't handle the high rpm.

Again thanks,
camme

Scott bob,
The coolant is expelled thru an ER16 collet or the tool tip and at 2000 psi has no problem putting 8 gpm in the cut zone.

Thanks for your reply,
camme

I beilieve "Barco" makes rotary couplings that can handle the speed and pressure.
They are costly, as they utilize two polished ceramic surfaces to make the seal.

Actually they are only good to 1500 psi, 20,000 rpm.accordiing to the web site.
