I just got the piece of 1/2 inch pvc I had planned to use for the bed on the trolley for my homebuilt machine and it is nowhere near as true as I had envisioned it. I am trying to come up with something to use for it the=at is in the realm of cheap but will hold up to chems and **** that I can machine true. I thought perhaps I can lay some hardi plank over the pvc and then machine it true, thinking this would give me a good solid base to work off. Does anyone know how well it machines? |

| Hardiboard (plank) is a composite gypsum-type product. It makes a HORRIBLE mess when cut with a circ saw and the dust is at best VERY ANNOYING and worst - Toxic. MASK, Gloves and work suit were used when I totally recladded (re-sided) our house -- during summer heat. I would not recommend using it as a work/sacrificial surface on your cnc. BTW BIG court case and settlement in OZ due to Asbestiosous (-10pts spelling) a lung disease for the workers at Hardi.

| Hardiplank was originally an asbestos-cement product, although the base fibre (asbestos) was replaced by a non toxic mineral fibre, some twenty odd years ago. If machined at all, can be ground wet to reduce dust. |
