Off the Shelf Spindle

Anyone have a decent supplier for lower hp spindles? I'm looking for a 3-5hp spindle. I'd prefer it to have a power draw-bar for auto tool changes and be able to run up to 20,000 [ish] Rpm. A VFD w/ 0-10v control is also a must. I've found a few that are more reasonably priced than the high dollar German stuff, but the overall size was just to big [long] I'd prefer something that would be 4" sqr x 10-12" long.. liquid cooled is ok if need be.. fan cooled is even better.

I know I'm shooting for the moon here but.. it's my wish list I can 'wish' for whatever right?

Thanks Gerry, the first site was where I've done most of my pricing. However their tool change spindle was a tad bit to long. [ It's ~ 20" long]

I'll take a gander at the other site.

Give them a call, they're good guys to deal with. They recently rebuilt one of the HSD spindles that came on our router. And they were about 1/3 the price of the machine manufacturer when we considered buying a new backup. I think we got a price, about a year ago, of a little over $5K for an 11 HP ATC spindle. Spindle only.

Just a reality check, I asked them about their smallest ATC spindle [The ES-325, 400Mhz model]. If you buy the package w/ a VFD and the needed cooling equipment.. it came to alot more than $5000USD.. alot more... in fact it was more than twice as much..

This thing is going to have to become pretty profitable before I go spending that much on a spindle.

Not sure why the one I was quoted was so cheap. It was air cooled, and no VFD was included in the price I got. We didn't buy it, but we had them rebuild ours. The rebuild was $2700.
