Help with Horizontal Mill Programming

Learning to program horizontal mill with B axis rotary table, B0=FRONT, B90 = RIGHT SIDE, B180= BACK AND B270 = LEFT SIDE. I am confused on the setting of the cplane and wcs when creating these views, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wink Horizontal Mill Pgm

Max Rpm,

First, what brand of machine are you using?

Second, what type of control?

Third, Conversational programming or G-Code?

This information will help others to help you.

Cincinnati 850 With Acramatic Control, G -code Programming Using Mastercam X.
I Am Used To Programming From The Top View, Just Simple 2d Stuff On Vertical Mills. I've Heard That On The Horizontals You Have To Program From The Front View Is This True.

Thanks

Question

Sorry I didnt reply right away, got caught up reading on someone's project mill.

I don't use MC X but in my mind all mills are referenced from the top of the part depending on how it is origined in CAD. MC X you say. Try posting this question in the MasterCam Area in this Forum. Someone there can better assist you.

If any thing always think in terms of the Z axis being the CL origin of your part. If you have a solid model or wire frame drawing you can write your program any way you like as long as you do the propper set up according to your program. Make it as easy as possible for yourself or the person operating the machine.

Assuming that I'm understanding you this is some kind of Pallet System. Looking at the CNC your Z axis will move left Z- and right Z+, up Y+ down Y-, X+ away from you X- toward you, correct?

Use each face perpedicular to your spindle should be your top(Z axis). Use a different work offset for each side, this is easier to set-up and program. Just insure that you have the right offset called after rotation is complete

It's just like a vert. You can put almost any 2d program on it. Just think of it as a vert. laying on end with a 4axis (a axis). Standing in front of the spindle looking at the pallet. left is x+ right is neg X-. y+ is up and y- is down z+ is away from the pallet and z- is towards the pallet.

As far as mastercam X. I've not used that version but I sure you can set it up so that the vierify shows the machine correctly. But if not just use it just as you would for your vert. mills. then add the b rotation code for your other side or of angle work.
