Hi, im currently designing a drilling machine (only one axis) and i need to know how to calculate the force and torque of a drill over a several kinds of steels (SAE 1045, SAE 4140, etc). Without this information I can't calculate the maximun torque over the spindle and the maximun torque over the servomotor. The problem is that i coulndt find any formula, software or table over internet about drilling forces and torque. I have a book that use derivate and integral functions, hard to calculate with only and Excel table. I need some kind of "easy" formulas to follow. Or just a table to get the data. Thanks in advance, and excuseme for my poor english. VNR |

| Get a copy of The Tool Engineers Handbook Published by SME 1949 was first edition 1959 was second edition Library of Congress number 58-13854 ISBN 07-001524-4 Chapter 18 deals with cutting loads/forces/horse power/feed rates etc All the formulas and details are there Try your library.. But it will pay to get a copy for yourself..it has 10 times the info macherery's handbook has, and some is not available anywhere else You can Google the SME, but they may no longer publish it ???
